Overview
Drainage improvement works are being undertaken along Alice Avenue, from Cedar Grove Road to Metro Road, and along Boyers Road, extending from Metro Road toward Lake Simcoe.
The scope of work includes the replacement of road-crossing culverts and driveway entrance culverts, as well as rehabilitation of roadside ditches. These improvements are intended to enhance stormwater conveyance within the Alice Avenue catchment area and increase the overall capacity and performance of the existing drainage infrastructure.
Background
- In 2022, the Town completed a comprehensive drainage study for the area. The study evaluated existing stormwater conditions and identified required improvements, which were subsequently developed into a detailed design for implementation.
- The detailed design for the project was completed in 2025.
- In fall of 2023 staff prepared a council report to present the findings of the 2022 stormwater drainage study for Alice Avenue and to outline the recommended solutions to address the identified issues.
- In fall of 2025, through a competitive procurement process, the Town retained a contractor to carry out the construction of the project. Construction is anticipated to commence in spring 2026, with substantial completion targeted for fall 2026.
